Adobe Premiere
How to use Adobe Premiere
Firstly you will need to create a new project. Name the project and select the video type you need. Once done you'll then need to upload your video clips into the software by clicking in the area that is circled in yellow.
Once done you can then double click on any of your clips and it will show up in the first screen screen for you to edit.
Once your clip is in this screen you can edit it by using the "I" button on your keyboard to chose where you want the clip to start and the "O" button on your keyboard to chose when you want the video to end. You can then drag your clip down from that first screen into the box circled in yellow below to add it to your film.
Once you have added it to your film it'll appear in the second screen and you can watch it to see how it looks.
You can then use the yellow line on your film clip, (shown below) to change the loudness of the audio on the clip.
You can also add audio into the area you added your clips into and add that on top of your video's to have music playing. You can cut this audio down too so it matches the scene and clips in your video.
You can then save your finished piece.

Sherlock Holmes Opening Scene
In this first scene from Sherlock you can hear lots of sounds like, the man running, the horses, the fire, a bird and the mans breathing as well as the music playing over the scene.
The music starts off as just a piano playing a calm and repetitive tune but then you hear the volume begin to drop and the horses nah along with the running of the horses and the music starts up again but this time at a fast pace as it builds up dramatically. You can also hear the mans feet running on the cobbled floor and the horses hooves trotting. The music plays throughout the whole clip and builds up gradually and dramatically until the end of the clip when a door opens and slams shut and everything goes silent.

The Conjuring Trailer
The Conjuring
By Libby Gardiner
Above you will see the trailer to the film The Conjuring. In this trailer they have used an old house in the middle of nowhere for the setting, with a dark story behind the reasons for the odd goings on in the house.
The clip above shows them using low camera lighting and low lit lamps for a dramatic effect by making the rooms seem dark and spooky and almost as if the dark is hiding something from the actors in the shots.
Through out the house they also use lots of dark wood for the furniture and dark cloths and curtains. Almost all the objects in the shots are browns, blacks or faded colors. They also have a lot of dust around the house on the props to give an old effect. Also the house is painted white but is surrounded by trees with no leaves and dark woods, I believe this is a symbolism of innocence trapped in darkness.
The actors are also wearing dark colored clothes and have messy hair and no makeup other than bruises and bags under the eyes. The only time you see the actors in lighter colored clothing is in a photo where they were happy before getting to the house and were all smiling.
The sounds and music they use builds up slowly for dramatic effect, and they use a lot of off screen sounds and bangs that come out of nowhere to make the viewers jump.
A lot of the shots used are close up's and mid shots to capture the reaction of the actors and to get the views at eye level with the actor so they will feel their emotions and feel as if they are there with them. They also use a few long shots though as well to show the setting and to make sure they can have the actors and the props in the shots when they need to be for the action that is happening and to capture the whole body language of the actors.
The shots change very fast in the trailer (above) to build up the quick tension. They even use a few extreme close ups to show the facial expressions of the ghosts with pale and dark makeup on to symbiosis their death.
The editing in this trailer is done so the shots change very quickly, one on top of the other using jump cuts to build up the tension as well as to match the music build up and to draw the viewers in. It also helps tell the story enough to make the viewers understand but also want to go view the whole film to find out more of what happens that the trailer doesn't show.
I stopped the trailer at this point because I liked this shot as you can see the worry on the actors face and stress, and the shot is a close up so there is no other scenery in the shot but her and the trees meaning the viewer is drawn to her face.
I think this is also a very good shot with the low lighting for effect and its enough to show the actors in trouble and is almost reaching out to the viewer with his hand for help. His hand is in the center of the shot with the light right behind it making his hand look like its reaching out further than it is, and you can slightly see his face but not much as if his trying to hide from something.
I perceptually love this shot with the white house in the center of the screen surrounded by the darkness with crows flying around it as a symbol of death. I think it works well and even with the cars at the bottom of the shot your eyes are draw to the house that seems as if its almost fading into the darkness surrounding it.

TV News Show
TV News Show
What I did?
I did the job of vision mixer and made sure all the shots were looking at the right presenter at the right time and that they switched at the right times too so they were on the presenter telling the next story.
The job roles we had were:
- Floor manager to make sure everything was running smoothly and on time.
- Sound person to make sure the talent could be heard and that their microphones were in the right place.
- Camera people to position the camera's to get all the right angles and shot for the show.
- Vision mixer to make sure each camera was looking at the right person at the right time and had the right image on the screen behind the presenter at the right time.
- Director to make sure everyone was in the right place at the right time's at all time's and to help the floor manager keep everything running smoothly.
- Presenter to read out the stories at the right time's and at the right pace so the shots worker in time.
The equipment we used was:
- Three camera's to get more shots and make our News report look more natural when changing shots and to get better shots from different angles.
- Microphones so out talent could b heard.
- We used tricaster to mix out shots with back ground images and to have a green screened back ground for our talent
On Tuesday everyone in the class brought in some recent news stories that we shared with each other. We then selected Paige to be our news editor and talked about which stories we thought we should show and why before we placed them in the order we believed to work best. We then edited our stories down so they would run smoother and snappier on the show and then we began to set up out set, giving each other jobs to do like sorting the presenter's microphones out and doing a sound check and making sure all the camera's were lined up right so the talent's eyes would be the same for each shot so it would we could switch shots without it looking messy and obvious. We also had people sorting out images on the tricaster to make sure they were in order with the stories and the camera shots. We had a director and floor manager to help people and make things run nicely and make sure everyone was in the right places. We then videoed our news show a few times changing the job roles round for other people to have ago at things before watching them back to see how it went. We all noticed they got better as they went along with less mistakes and were running more smoothly.
If we did it again I'd say edit some of the stories down a bit more to make it more snappy and easier to watch and maybe add in some video clips/live reports type of thing using the green screen to make the news come to life a little more. I'd also so maybe select story categories so we can have a sports section and maybe weather report so the stories don't seem to just be randomly put into place.

Scottish, yes or no?
In the Scottish independence: the essential guide you can see their argument clearly and see how they plan to do things and also the changes it will bring to the Scottish and other people related to Scotland. It's made very clear why they are doing this and what they aim to gain from it if the vote goes in favor of separating.
I think the website for yes to separate is better as it has more information, is easier to understand, has a better layout and is friendlier. Unlike the No to separates website which seems to me to be to in your face and is all over the place. As you can see in the image below of the Yes and No to separate's websites I have circled two things, one on each website to show that the layout of the Scottish vote yes is much easier to understand due to the layout of the category's compered to the list layout with the timer down the side on the vote no's website.
Also the images, to the left, on the vote yes website are more friendly with smiles and happy children unlike the vote no's site which seem's more serious and doesn't draw you in as much.. Also the yes website uses less words so its easier to read and has set out links to click on so you can easily find what you want to read unlike the no website which has a lot of words and is harder to find stuff on.
The vote for yes video is also more persuasive as it lists all the things Scotland will gain from separating and what is loses if it doesn't. It also has it from a child growing up's perspective and shows the future she could have if they split being a happy and for filled one unlike if they stay joined. The video is from a child's view to connect with a younger audience but to also connect to the older generation who have children or want them. The video connects to the target audience very well and makes you feel apart of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qetvDbl4Xfs
If I were voting I'd vote yes as I see the reason's and the opportunities it would bring but I also see the downfall to voting to split as more vulnerability and could possibly bring wars, and more debt. I'm in between about if they should or shouldn't split as I know the ups and down's of it but I'd say the only reason I wouldn't want them to is because it would cause change where I live and I don't like change but I agree with their reason's for doing it.
